Digital Fashion Academy – Digital Health and Safety Policy
Company and Director Commitments
At Academia de Moda Digital, we recognize our collective responsibility to ensure that all reasonable digital health and safety precautions are taken to safeguard our learners, staff, trainers, and partners while participating in online courses, live sessions, and webinars.
Each director acknowledges their individual responsibility for considering digital health and safety issues when making decisions about any aspect of the business. DFA is committed to creating a safe, accessible, and supportive online learning environment.
Responsibilities of Managers and Supervisors
Managers and supervisors are responsible for implementing DFA’s Digital Health and Safety Policy within their areas of responsibility. They must take health and safety issues into account as part of their role and address any concerns brought to their attention.
If a manager cannot resolve a matter directly, it must be escalated to senior management to ensure timely and appropriate action.
Roles and Responsibilities of Staff and Trainers
All DFA staff and trainers are entitled to, and will receive, adequate guidance and information to enable them to carry out their roles while adhering to DFA’s Digital Health and Safety standards.
Staff and trainers have both a legal and personal responsibility to follow safety procedures and apply advice issued by management. Involvement in digital health and safety matters is encouraged at all levels, and all team members should feel empowered to raise concerns.
Failure to follow agreed procedures that place the health and safety of colleagues, learners, or third parties at risk may result in disciplinary action.
Roles and Responsibilities of Learners
Learners also play an important role in maintaining a safe digital learning environment. DFA expects learners to:
- Use the online platforms and tools responsibly.
- Follow any health and safety guidance shared during training.
- Take regular breaks when using display screen equipment (DSE).
- Report any accessibility or digital safety concerns to DFA promptly.
Using Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
Because DFA courses are delivered digitally, responsible use of display screen equipment is essential. Learners, staff, and trainers are encouraged to:
- Take a 2–3 minute micro-break every 20 minutes.
- Take a 5-minute break every hour (e.g., stretch, walk, make a drink).
- Perform simple workstation exercises to reduce strain.
- Maintain correct posture when seated.
- Keep hydrated and choose healthy snacks to support concentration and wellbeing.
Safety Policy, Advice, and Relevant Law
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (UK), DFA has a legal responsibility to provide adequate information, training, and support to ensure that health and safety measures are followed.
As a Swiss-based organisation operating in an international context, DFA also aligns this policy with the principles of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP, RS 235.1) and, where applicable, with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation 2016/679), as well as related European Union frameworks such as the European Health Data Space (EHDS), the Medical Devices Regulation (MDR, Regulation (EU) 2017/745) and the Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). These legal frameworks set high standards for the responsible use of digital technologies, the protection of personal and health-related data, and the prevention of digital risks.
Our Digital Health and Safety Policy helps:
- Minimise risks of digital fatigue, strain, or ill health linked to prolonged online study.
- Reduce staff and learner absence due to preventable health issues.
- Maintain high standards of digital learning environments.
Staff and learners are expected to follow DFA’s internal guidance and instructions. Failure to do so may result in breaches of applicable health, safety, or data protection law, which could carry personal accountability in the case of serious incidents.
We encourage all staff and learners to be proactive in addressing health and safety concerns and to report them promptly to management. If unresolved, concerns may be escalated to the DFA Director for further review.

Digital Fashion Academy – Equal Treatment Policy
1) Policy Overview
At Academia de Moda Digital, our success depends on the diversity, creativity, and expertise of our people: colleagues, trainers, and learners. We believe that respecting individual differences, drawing on varied perspectives, and creating an inclusive environment adds value to our academy and the fashion industry we serve.
DFA is committed to being a fair and inclusive training organisation. We aim to recruit and develop talent from the widest pool, provide equal opportunities for all, and ensure a supportive, respectful, and safe learning and working environment.
As an equal opportunities organisation, DFA does not tolerate discrimination based on disability, race, colour, religion or belief, nationality, ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy, age, marital or civil partner status, employment status (including part-time or fixed term), or membership/non-membership of a trade union.
This policy applies to all DFA staff, contractors, trainers, and learners.
2) Harassment and Bullying
All learners, staff, and partners at DFA have the right to work and learn in an environment free from discrimination, harassment, and bullying.
Harassment includes any unwanted conduct that is offensive, intimidating, humiliating, or hostile, regardless of intent.
Bullying includes repeated or persistent behaviour such as unwarranted criticism, exclusion, verbal abuse, or unreasonable work demands that undermine dignity.
Examples of bullying may include:
- Verbal abuse or insults
- Excluding or isolating individuals
- Assigning meaningless or impossible tasks
- Withholding information needed to perform effectively
Such behaviour will not be tolerated and will be treated as a serious breach of DFA policy.
3) Disciplinary Measures
Acts of unlawful discrimination, harassment, or bullying will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or collaboration agreements.
DFA will also ensure that redundancy criteria, dismissal decisions, and disciplinary processes are applied fairly and without discrimination.
4) Scope of the Policy
This policy applies to:
- All DFA employees, regardless of contract type (permanent, temporary, part-time, or fixed term).
- Trainers, contractors, consultants, and agency staff working with DFA.
- Learners enrolled in any DFA course, live or online.
It covers recruitment, working and learning conditions, promotions, training opportunities, grievance handling, and all other aspects of DFA’s operations.
5) Terms and Conditions of Employment
All terms and conditions at DFA are applied consistently and fairly, without unjustifiable requirements that could disadvantage individuals. Any adjustments or accommodations required to ensure equal opportunities will be made.
6) Recruitment and Selection
Recruitment and selection at DFA are based solely on ability, qualifications, and merit. Selection criteria are reviewed to ensure they are relevant, fair, and do not disadvantage individuals from underrepresented groups.
7) Promotion
All promotion opportunities within DFA are based on performance, skills, and merit. We are committed to ensuring that promotion decisions are free from discrimination and bias.
8) Training and Development
All staff and trainers will have equal access to training and development opportunities. DFA ensures that learning and professional growth are based on individual potential and contribution, not on personal characteristics or background.
9) Disciplinary and Grievance
Allegations of discrimination, harassment, or bullying will be treated seriously, confidentially, and promptly. Complaints may be raised informally or formally through DFA’s grievance process.
Managers and directors have an obligation to take immediate action if inappropriate behaviour is identified. Complainants will not suffer victimisation for raising concerns in good faith.
False or malicious allegations, however, may themselves be treated as disciplinary matters.
10) Performance
All staff and trainers are expected to contribute to DFA’s inclusive culture. Performance evaluations will be based on objective criteria, role-related achievements, and contributions to the academy. Discrimination, harassment, or bullying will be treated as serious performance failings.
