Low-Rise Jeans are Coming Back

With the rise of Y2K fashion, all of its aspects are becoming trends. Such as low-rise jeans, for example. The only big difference is that the fit of the low-rise denim is quite different: no skinny jeans and no crop. The longer – the better, the wider – the trendier. Low-rise jeans in spring-summer 2023 are going to be styled in a true Y2K manner: with an exposed midriff. Who knows, maybe lower back tattoos are also going to make a comeback?

While corsets have been in fashion for the past 3 years, corsets in denim are a relatively new trend. In spring/summer 2023 fashionistas will rock denim bustiers and corsets of denim made with boning. For the upcoming season even the most iconic fashion houses like Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier, that are famous for designing lingerie and shapewear, have come out with their own versions of this item in jean fabric.

Denim Skirts: Mini, Midi, Maxi

When we’re talking about denim, we don’t mean only jeans and jackets. Let’s not forget about skirts. Mini, midi, maxi – they are all going to be trendy in the spring/summer 2023 season.
When we think of the latest revival of denim skirts in circa 2014 during the spike of the Tumblr era we remember a lot of references to the 90-s fashion with mini skirts that were buttoned up in the middle.
Now the style has changed. We see more of the 70’s and 00’s silhouettes, more straight fits and extreme minis.

The fashion of 2000’s has made a major comeback. And a big part of it is a lot of bling! It can be crystals, it can be rhinestones, it can be glitter: anything that will make your jeans shine in the crowd is a win.

“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking!”, Miranda Priestly once said. Well, it actually is pretty new, if the flowers are in denim. Silk printed, embroidered, embellished, appliquéd, – there are so many ways to master the floral print. Since heavily decorated jeans are super trendy in spring-summer 2023 season, florals are no exception.

You should be aware of the fact that the denim fabric has an impact on the environment and some denim manufactures are now trying to reduce this impact by switching to natural coloration instead of chemical ones, use of Lyocell fibre instead of cotton and use recycled metal parts for rivets and metallic buttons.

One of the criteria for choosing a sustainable product is also the durability of the product itself. If you purchase a good quality product that will last you for many years to follow you are already on the path of sustainability, and one of the most truthful ones if I may add.

Consider that the circular economy it’s all based on reuse – recycle and repurpose. Therefore if you buy a pair of jeans that will last many years, or you can repurpose or resell you are in the virtuose circle of circular economy.

Business Comfort dress code

The second trend that we are seeing in 2022 is the Business Comfort. The pandemic has changed my habits and it’s going to have a long term effect. One of this effect is that people both male and female have changed their personal style during the pandemic, with a switch towards comfort clothing and comfy business clothes which include the denim, with a specific preference for stretchy comfortable denim and soft denim fabric like the left hand denim. The business comfort look includes “sweater dresses, oversized blazers and elastic-waist bottoms”.

Dress up and dress down

The jeans are are functional, versatile, elegant and timeless. One of the reasons denim jeans are so popular is that they can be dressed up or dressed down quite easily. You can wear them with a white t-shirt during the day and with a blazer to go out at night.
